After Jesus attended the wedding in Cana, He travelled some 20 miles northeast to Capernaum, where He stayed for a few days with His mothers, brothers (cf. Matt 1:24–25; 12:46; Mark 3:21; 6:3; Luke 8:19), and disciples (cf. John 1:35–51). Capernaum, the home of some of Jesus’ followers, served as the Lord’s headquarters during a large portion of His public ministry (cf. Matt 4:13; Mark 1:21; 2:1).
